Marketing Around Dashain and Tihar Without Being Annoying

Festival season is the biggest spending window of the year in Nepal, and most businesses respond with one copy-paste greeting post and nothing else.

The greeting post is not a campaign

A logo on a red background with a festival wish reaches nobody new and sells nothing. It is a courtesy, not marketing, so treat it as one post out of fifteen rather than the whole plan.

Plan three phases, not one day

People start buying weeks before the festival and stays shifted after it.

  • Before: gift ideas, offers, and honest delivery cut-off dates.
  • During: your team, your shop, and the human side of the holiday.
  • After: thank-yous, customer photos, and what you are open for next.
  • Throughout: staffing and reply times, because enquiries spike hard.

Say the deadline out loud

The most useful festival content you can make is the last date you can deliver, stated clearly on screen. It creates real urgency without a single discount.

Do not disappear afterwards

Most pages go quiet for two weeks once the festival ends, exactly when competitors are still visible and customers are still spending. A small backlog filmed in advance solves it.

Real examples

Bad line, good line.

Most people write

A logo on a red background: "Happy Dashain from our family to yours."

Say this instead

"Last delivery date before Dashain is the 9th. After that we are back on the 20th."

Most people write

One greeting post, then two weeks of silence.

Say this instead

Three phases: gift ideas before, the team during, thank-yous after.

Full example

Worked example: a gift shop in Pulchowk

01Two weeks before: post gift ideas with prices and the delivery cut-off on screen.
02During: film your team, your shop, and the queue. One post a day, rough is fine.
03After: post customer photos and what you are open for next, from a backlog filmed earlier.

Festival days

One honest greeting, not five.

The week after

Thank-yous, results, restocks.

Everyone posts on the day. Almost nobody plans the fortnight before it.

Festival marketing is a calendar problem, not a graphic design problem.

Do this week

Three things you can do now.

01Put your delivery cut-off date on screen in a video this week.
02Film a week of post-festival content before the festival starts.
03Decide now who is answering messages during the holidays.
