How to Get Customer Reviews People Believe

Everyone knows a testimonial was requested. What makes one work is not enthusiasm, it is detail nobody would bother to invent.

Ask at the moment of relief

The best time to ask is right after the result lands: the meal finished, the keys handed over, the treatment done. A week later you get politeness instead of feeling.

Three questions instead of a script

Never hand a customer words to say. Ask, and let them answer badly. Badly is believable.

  • What were you worried about before you came?
  • What actually happened?
  • What would you tell a friend who is deciding?

Keep the hesitation in

Cut the umms if you must, but keep the pause, the specific number, the slightly awkward honesty. Polished delivery is exactly what makes viewers stop believing.

One review, three uses

A single ninety second clip becomes a short video, a quote graphic, and a line on your website. Most businesses collect reviews and then use each one once.

Real examples

Bad line, good line.

Most people write

"Sir, please say you loved the service." Read from a phone.

Say this instead

"What were you worried about before you came?" Answered badly, kept in.

Most people write

A five-star graphic with a typed quote.

Say this instead

Ninety seconds of a customer pausing, then giving a specific number.

Full example

Worked example: three questions at the counter

01Ask right after the result lands: the meal finished, the keys handed over.
02Ask what they were worried about, what happened, and what they would tell a friend.
03Keep the pauses. Cut only the umms, and reuse each clip three ways.

The worry

What they feared before coming in.

What happened

The specific result, in their words.

To a friend

What they would tell someone deciding.

The detail nobody would invent is the detail that convinces.

Do this week

Three things you can do now.

01Ask your next five customers the same three questions on camera.
02Post one unedited-sounding review clip this week.
03Pull three quotes from what you already have and reuse them.
