Selling Through Instagram DMs and Cash on Delivery

Most online selling in Nepal runs through DMs and cash on delivery, which makes replies and returns part of your marketing whether you planned it that way or not.

Make the product answer itself

Price, size, colours available, and delivery time on screen. Every question you leave out becomes a message you have to answer manually, forty times.

Fix the DM script before you scale

Volume without a reply system produces cancelled orders, not revenue.

  • A saved first reply with price, delivery time, and payment options.
  • One clear confirmation format: name, number, landmark, item.
  • A stated cut-off for same-day dispatch.
  • A short, honest line about what happens if the item is wrong.

Cash on delivery is a content problem too

Refusal at the door usually means expectation did not match reality. Film the actual item in real light, mention the exact fabric or weight, and your refusal rate drops without a single ad change.

Reorder is where the profit is

The second purchase costs you nothing in ads. Film packing, post customer unboxings, and reply to old buyers when new stock lands.

Real examples

Bad line, good line.

Most people write

"Price inbox 🙏"

Say this instead

"NPR 1,450. Free delivery inside Ring Road. Dispatched today if you message before 3."

Most people write

A first reply that says "yes available".

Say this instead

A saved reply with price, delivery time, payment options, and the confirmation format.

Full example

Worked example: cutting refused deliveries

01Refilm your top seller in daylight, no filter, and say the fabric or weight out loud.
02Save a first-reply template and a confirmation format: name, number, landmark, item.
03Message your last twenty buyers when new stock lands, before spending on ads.

Unanswered questions

Price, size and delivery missing from the video.

Slow first reply

Hours, not minutes.

Wrong expectation

Item looked different on camera.

Most cancelled orders are decided before anyone replies.

A refused delivery is a video that over-promised, not a customer who changed their mind.

Do this week

Three things you can do now.

01Write and save a first-reply template with price and delivery time.
02Film your top seller in daylight with no filter and compare orders.
03Message your last twenty buyers when new stock arrives.
